CHICKEN Nipples

I installed the watering nipples in a length of PVC pipe that runs under the coop. It is plumbed to a supply tank (5 gallon bucket outside the run). Be sure to check the size of the nipple before you buy a drill bit. The instructions that came with mine specified the wrong size. Teflon tape kept the fitting tight and free of leaks.

Ok, I just installed 4 of the QC nipples on a 5 gallon bucket yesterday. 1 leaked bad, pulled it off, put a different one on and it leaked bad at first but then slowed down and this morning seemed to have stopped. I spent about a hour with the chicks, tapping the nipples with my finger, they caught on quickly. I'm only now worried about my Polish - I think she is dumb as a box of hammers and my runt, who is so tiny, I put a block under the bucket so she can reach it lol. I'm going out every few hours and forcing her to tap the nipples with her beak and drink. i hope she catches on. As for the Polish - she pecks the side of the bucket and looks at me like "See, told you it was broken", turns around and runs into a wall.
Poor thing.
For the run, I was thinking Id like to put the nipples on a length of PVC, and run it to a "reservoir" such as a large trash can that I can fill either with rain water, or hose, once a week or so.. would this work? Im trying to brainstorm how to do this so Im not dragging the hose over to fill 4 five gallon buckets daily. I do not have water plumbed over there, and it is not an option right now.. any ideas?

I've seen other people use a bigger reservoir and connect a PVC pipe. I think there might be an example in the Feeding and Watering your Flock under waterers.

we have ours on PVC pipe run to a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet float and connected it with a hose to our spigot off the well so we dont have to fill it and water is fresh
