Hello, I have an amberlink that is 3 years old and she has layed an egg almost every day until recently. Two months ago, during an extreme 10 day cold stretch in winter in MN, she became lethargic and was laying under directly under the heat lamps, while the others were fine. We moved her into a small heated space inside to look after her for a few days. She responded slightly and because she is our favorite girl, took her to see a vet specializing in birds. They could not identify anything specifically and she turned the corner shortly thereafter. But since then, she has stopped laying eggs and still sits in her favorite roosting spot but nothing. Any suggestion as to what we can give her to help her or is that just nature? We are not concerned with the eggs, just wanting to help her if possible or will enjoy her as she is. Thank You in advance!

Is she roosting all day long or coming out every day, eating/drinking and interacting with her flock?

She is active, eating and drinking as normal and seems healthy as ever. She has always been a bit of a loner at times but joins in with the flock and at night on the roosting bar in the coop.

Sounds like she's doing o.k. for now.

It's possible she may have some type of reproductive disorder that's affecting her production.
Either they are laying or not. You can't make them lay. If she's happy within herself and eggs priority, I'd just enjoy her and let her chicken on.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Do you have any thoughts on whether giving her more calcium would be worth a try or not really?

She's not activity laying eggs right?

I would not give her Extra Calcium unless she's in distress and having a hard time expelling an egg.

You can't make her lay eggs.

Has she shown any recent signs of starting to molt? Many of the super good layers may burn out early, but she may have had some sort of reproductive problem going on to have caused her lack of laying eggs. Some of my hens stopped laying early because of an earlier respiratory illness infectious bronchitis, which can affect their oviducts. Calcium should only be given to hens who are laying.
