(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
So new to chickens that I don't even have them yet! My garage is full of the makings for my coop and I plan on getting started this week. Woo hoo!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0. But plan on getting 6-8 baby chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Plan on getting Orpingtons and some Easter Eggers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am excited to introduce my kiddos to their first experience with livestock. I grew up on a farm and this is the closest we can get in a suburban setting.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I homeschool my two kiddos. I love doing yoga, hiking, being outside, woodworking, embroidery, crochet, and drinking copious amounts of coffee.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married to Jarin, we have two little girls aged 5 & 2. We live in a multi-generational home with my mother and brother. Our house was built in 1879 and it's a Victorian dream home on 1/2 acre. We have a Greyhound and a kitty cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I discovered the forums when looking for chicken coop plans. Decided to join because of all the good natured folks and their awesome advice!
