My preicous 3 year old Buff Orpington hen wont drink for the life of her. She's currently dealing with a roundworm infection, is pale, sleeps all day, and only passes watery poop. I've been syringe feeding her electrolytes which as you can imagine is not a fun experience for the pore girl. Does anyone have experiance with chickens refusing to drink? Did those vile worms cause this? She's also panting in cool temperatures. Urgent help would be very appreciated, Thank you.

Is she eating? If so give moist foods like cucumber, a little watermelon, Maybe make a mash out of chicken feed to get moisture in her. I have occasionally offered a dehydrated chicken some soggy bread. But not too much of that.

Some chickens like the taste of a little apple cider vinegar in their water. In large quantities the ratio is 1 tablespoon to a gallon of water.

Are you sure there is nothing else going on with her besides the roundworms?

Maybe the meds are just making her not feel too good. Especially with worms clogging up her digestive system.

Did you do a search on chickens not drinking to see what others have tried?

She will eat blueberries, the ocasanal watermelon, cut up grapes, Sunflowers Seeds, and dry chicken food but nothing else. Oh yeah and she'll eat dried grasshopper heads ;). Iv'e tried everything I can to make her water more apealing but she just wont drink. I only started giving her meds after she wasnt drinking. the day I noticed something was off she was panting and really hot but I cooled her down and she stopped drinking the next day. its been five days since Ive quarenteened her. I tried searching but couldnt find anything exactly similar.
