I have two Jersey Giants pullets, both are the same age, 18 weeks old. Purchased at the same time from the same place. One is thriving and one is not. The smaller one, Gertie, has struggled with illness in the past but is healthy now. She’s just not growing. Since her illness, we have monitored her weight and she has only gained a pound in around 2 months, whereas her sister, Greta, has gained 2-3 pounds. She has been treated for coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis and is dewormed regularly. She’s not super energetic either. She plays with everyone from time to time but mostly lays around. She eats and drinks fine. No crop problems. No injuries. She’s not laying yet. She eats age appropriate food. Her poop is completely normal, so no, I’m not posting poop pics lol. She doesn’t get picked on. She doesn’t get chased away from the feeder. I call her our “failure to thrive chicken”. Anyone have any experience with this or any idea what could be causing this? We have 10 other chickens who are all perfectly fine and growing amazingly. I’ve attached pictures of her and her sister.

Could be failure to thrive or some type of genetic or developmental issue.

If she was sick in the past, whatever was ailing her may have caused some long-term damage or affected her system. Hard to know.

When something like this is going on, about all you can do is see that she's eating/drinking, relatively active. Control parasites and see how it goes.
