Chicken not laying!

We recently purchased 4 silkies and 1 batam barred cochan. Three are supposed to start laying in September (silkies) and the other two we were told are laying already. It has been three weeks and we have only gotten two eggs. Is this normal? Thanks for your help!

Are they free range? If so look around and see if they are hiding their eggs.

i have 2 that won't lay if cooped but will lay 1 a day when they're out

The chickens are out during the day but in a 8ft x 24ft run the is attached to the coop. I have not seen any eggs in the run. The eggs that I did get were in their nesting box which is actually an old window box filled with hay. Do you think that is the problem? Thank you so much for your help.
