Hello everyone,
My name is Charles and I am new to the this wonderful world of back yard chickens. Me and my wife just got 12 new chickens that we have been raising for the past 2 1/2 weeks they were just a week old when we purchased them. We picked a mixture of breeds 3 Buff Orphingtons, 2 Delaware, 3 Dominique, 3 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Welsummer. They are a wonder addition to our growing family. I am excited to learn and see everyone's experiences with their chickens and also share our own with the community.

Hello Charles,

I am also new. I live in the Washington DC area. We have been wanting to get backyard chickens. Then a friend of mine said get ready I am bringing you 7 this weekend. That was about 2 weeks ago. I was so excited to the first egg only 2 days later when he told me it would be about 2 weeks. Our hens consists of 3 red ones, 1 buff, 1 Easter egger, 1 Dominique, and 1 white one with a black speck here or there. We have really come to enjoy them and really like watching them. I would like to get a few young ones this spring and start with what we want so who know how that will go.
From one new be to another.
