I have four hens who are all 1yr and three months...great layers. My problem is that I let them out of the run to free range in my yard when I am able to supervise them, they have all been very good about running to me when I get the yellow bucket of meal worms as their treat to go back into the run. Recently my Barred Rock "Thelma" is refusing to return to the run she makes a bline in the opposite direction after everyone else runs in.....it is making it to where I now am thinking about not letting her out to free range in fear that I won't get her back in.....we have a lot of hawks in our area so although my yard is fenced in I am afraid to leave them out un attended....any ideas????

dont let her out with the others for maybe a day or 2 then try letting her out with them. if she doesnt go back in once you get her dont let her out for another day or 2 . then try again. give her lots of treats while in the pen. maybe try corn to get them back in the pen thats what i use.

Thanks...will try keeping her in for a couple of days...she is like a misbehaving kid...lol...may try corn, although she loves the meal worms..just not enough to go in...
