Hi new to the site am looking for some help my, hen Nugget is a bit of a Houdini and gets out of the garden, on Friday she was out on the pavement standing absolutely fine I picked her up and put her back on grass in garden she wouldnt stand-cannot see any injuries to legs and has a grip she is eating and even bless her laid an egg on Saterday! Read somewhere she could be in shock and to give vit B. Today Sunday she is able to kind of move without weightbearing in coop. I took her in and washed her rear as she's sitting in her own dirt, I think something has attacked her at he back as if you look under there is a bald bit but no apparent injury. Sorry to waffle on but she is a great wee hen, I am as certain as i can be she's not suffering her wings seem ok I thought hey might be damaged and I bandaged he up- that lasted 2 secs!!! Any help would be great. Lesley

I have a Buff Orpington hen who went through something similar earlier this year. She was running through the yard fine one minute, and simply fell down on her next step! She got back up but was limping horribly. I assumed she had sprained her leg, but there were no injuries. I took her in the house and let her rest. The next morning she was walking around fine. The following day she was limping around again. I examined her legs, her feet, her hips & back. Nothing wrong with her anywhere. But she absolutely couldn't walk at all. She couldn't even limp as she had been doing. I checked her over and over in this manner every day. For nearly 2 full months she lived in the house, she ate and drank fine. I would stand her up and hold onto her so that her legs could get some exercise. But she couldn't hold herself up. Eventually she regained the strength in her legs and went back to limping, then she was able to finally start walking on her own again.

I never found out what was wrong with her. But she has fully recovered and is perfectly normal again. She has been outside with the rest of her flock for almost 4 full months.

I'm sorry that I cannot help diagnose your hen. Wanted to share my experience with a similar situation in hopes that something I may have done will help your situation out. :) Good luck!!
