I have a turken (5 months) that is having a hard time balancing. She has to hold her wings to the side and try to stand:(. She is panting. What could be wrong?

Try to give a little more info. Has it been hot? Are her legs injured? Is she showing signs of fatigue?

Try to describe her behavior in as much detail as possible. Also, how long has this been going on?

I'll help at all if I can. I know that anyone else would also ask for info too though.

Hopefully it's nothing serious and she'll be ok. Good luck.

The turken just started acting off balance this morning, wings out with heavy breathing. Legs are fine. No injuries. It's been in the 90s here in NC but we have be putting electrolites in their water on these hots days.

My husband contacted a poultry "chicken" specialist in this area and thinks it may be worms. We have treated all the chickens with I think he said wazine (wormer) and hope we have medicated her in time and hopefully the others too.

Thanks for your quick reply. Wish us luck!

Best of luck! Wazine is the best thing to treat them with first for worms. Your need to treat them with a different wormer in 10 - 14 days. Most people recommend Ivermectin (I think the pour on is the best) but there are others.

You can find a post on here all about it.

If she has worms, that combined with the heat in a chicken that just may not be as strong could definitely cause that.

Good luck!

Let me know how she's doing!
