Chicken on nest and aggressive

One of four free range chickens has not gotten off of the nest for at least 22 hours. We came home from out of town to find her there. When we try to get her off by picking her up or pushing her off with a broom, she is very aggressive.

Gotta rooster? Do you know if eggs are fertile? If not break the broody girl. If fertile, do you want/have space for more birds?

If you don't have a rooster, then the eggs aren't fertile and it's just a waste of time for her to be sitting there (broody hens don't lay eggs, they just set.) Put on some heavy gloves, roll down your sleeves and reach in there and grab her off the nest. You may have to do this several times. The object is to keep her off the nest until she's broke. You may also notice that she's very warm. When I've tried the method of a cold bath, it never worked. Good luck!
