im starting too build a coop and ive got some chicks gonna hatch in the spring (ameracucanas) but i really want too get started soon with eggs is it safe for my chicks if i go ahead and perchase a few hens now?

Folks are always working to safely introduce younger chickens to mature hens. I've done it twice now introducing two new 10 week old Easter Egger pullets to an existing flock of 7, 10-month-old hens, and then adding two more pullets the following fall. Make sure your coop and run are more than adequate for the total number of birds you will have when you introduce so that the young birds have a way to get away from the older birds. I would recommend making sure the new birds are strong and feathered out...maybe 10 weeks before putting them in with the older birds unless you have a way to keep them separated in the begining.
