I had 2 chicken in the same coop a few months ago one had a swollen head and could hardly close her eyes. I tried some ab's did not work sadly culled her. I had another that started sneezing a day later and sadly culled her. The others where fine till one 2 weeks ago started sneezing. I have given her 2 lots of ab's from the vet and she is still stretching her neck and opening her mouth. I am really concerned as she is in isolation putting her back into the flock. I HAVE 40 chickens they are all healthy what should I do? I hate culling my girls.

Show us a pic of your coop and run if you have one?
What's your location? Where did you get the chickens? Did they all come from the same place? How long have you had chickens?

When chickens gasp they can stretch the neck and open the mouth. Sometimes they can be adjusting their crop, but gasping is more of a repeated action. It aounds like you have some sort of chronic respiratory disease in your flock, and your chickens are carriers. It sounds like MG (mycoplasma gallisepticum,) but coryza can also cause swelling of the face. What antibiotic were you treating the one that died? If you should lose another chicken or if you decide to cull one, send the body in to the state vet poultry lab for a necropsy. That is the easiest way to get a diagnosis. Then you will know if it is caused by a bacteria or a virus, or if a different antibiotic might help. What state are you in? Here is a list of state vets to contact:
