When my 4 chickens (all different breeds) started egg producing i had one chicken that started pecking on 2 out of 3 of my chickens. She didn't bother my barred plymouth rock but attacked my americauna and a little girl whom i don't know the breed of. I took the bully out of the coop and separated her. Both injured chickens lost the use of their right leg and were pretty much like stroke victims. The little one didn't make it and i have the other one in the house and am nursing her back to health. She is getting better a little every day and completely acts like she's had a stroke! She's walking but crouching as she walks and wobbles around.

Has anyone had this happen? Does the pecking cause neurological damage? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have faith my injured girl will bounce back someday.

Were they pecked in the head? If so, brain damage could have occured.

They were pecked just below the head on the upper neck. It's amazing tho...the one i am rehabbing is slowly coming around, just like a brain injury!
