Chicken plucked herself

I found my Black A chicken sitting on a busted egg and when I picked her up she had no feathers We have looked serveal times and can not see any bug on her. What can it be

Although I do not have a chicken nor have ever had them I do have a parrot. Plucking is common when distress is present. is she eating and drinking? The cracking of her egg might have upset her to the point that she began to pluck her own feathers. Observe her nesting box and check for mites and other insects. The egg which is probably rotten could also be causing some kind of skin irritation.

Is it her belly that is missing feathers? If so, and she was sitting on an egg, I would guess she is beginning to go broody.

yes she was sitting on a couple of eggs and 1 was broken but Im pretty sure she laid one the day before I thought they didnt lay if they were broody
