One of my 7 chickens got sick approximately 3 weeks ago... symptoms started with wet ‘rattling’ breathing and progressed into gaping, labored breathing, and inactivity within a few days.
My wife and I started treating the chicken with ivermectin thinking that it may be Gapeworm, but after reading on here about regular mis-diagnosis we moved to giving her injections of penicillin 1x daily (thinking that this may help treat a respiratory infection). Obviously I’m new to chicken ownership so at this point I was desperately grasping at straws...
After nearly a week of no improvement we finally found out about Tylan50 and immediately switched to .75cc 2x daily. Within 3 days she began improving quite dramatically. 5 days in and she appeared to be 100% recovered other than her color being slightly less vibrant. We stopped treatment and she was perfectly fine for almost an entire week.

3 days ago I came home from work and discovered that she had regained a slight wet sound to her breathing... she still appeared to be 100% with appetite, energy, etc. We immediately started back on the Tylan50 x2 daily. Unfortunately her condition seemed to degrade a bit more up til yesterday morning. I got home from work yesterday afternoon and she was in horrible shape... she was laying down and gaping VERY fast and had lost a lot of color since the morning. I did yard work for about 2 hours and went back to check on her and she was dead in the corner of the coop... Keep in mind just yesterday morning she was still acting pretty normal other than a slight gape...

I am so frustrated as I thought we had saved her from her sickness just a few days ago and then suddenly her condition took a quick turn for the worst. I sure would appreciate any insight/help anyone can provide... I’m worried that the other chickens may get sick as well and I have no clue how to treat going forward... thanks in advance for any advice any of you can share.

I think your best bet would be to get a necropsy done, so you will know if what she had could have spread to others then you willl know exactly how to treat them.
