chicken pool

I have fenced my hens into a smaller part of my yard. It just so happens that there is a small concrete pond (koi pond) in this area. Right now it is empty except for the leaves that fall in. Is there something I could do with it for the chickens? Maybe a chicken sand box?

Ideas???

A glorified dust bath is fine! they'd love it.

Yep. Home Depot and other places sell playsand or you can get it from landscape companies.

Chickens cannot swim- it is my understanding that when their feathers get soaked, they will sink....

If you use something to build a seperate pen you can get ducks or other waterfowl. Chickens would drown.

They may like a wading pool. Mine get in the kiddie pool all the time just for a drink of water. A few have fell in and that was a hoot but they were fine.
