my rooster sleeps in nesting box so everyday I clean it out.my husband told me to start storing it in container he plans to add water to it and use around tomatoe plants in garden.has anyone else tried this and how did it work out.

Chicken poop is a excellent source of nitrogen. It makes plants very green and healthy. I use it for all my plants, that being said , I don't use it unless it has been applied to the garden when a couple of frosts have hit it and I know the bacteria is dead. Then till it in the soil. If you apply it this time of year be careful, because if your husband accidentally dropped a tomato on the soil and the fruit wasn't fully cleaned it could make you sick. I would definaetly start saving for next year though. Its great fertilizer, but too much will burn a plant up.

You'll want to let it compost for about a year before you use it in the garden. It's so high in nitrogen, if you used it fresh, it would kill the plants.

Do you have a compost? I have one made out of pallets, just three sides. When I clean out the coop, I throw the poop in the compost (along with kitchen scraps and grass clippings, etc). Then in the spring I use last years compost.
