Need ideas on transporting ten chickens on short notice

Good ideas from people. I prefer wire dog crates for transporting chickens, but boxes with air holes do work. Puppy pads might be helpful. Do you own a pickup truck? You could have that ready to go. You also might think about boarding your other animals for a few day, or asking a friend to board some. Good luck, and I hope that you stay safe.

This is a good option to think about in a pinch. Towels and tape would do, it's not ideal but if it's about transporting them now or they'll die, they wouldn't take up much space and you wouldn't have to struggle to shove the chickens into boxes while they try to escape the whole time.

Your suggestions are excellent! As usual for emergencies, timing is poor especially with my folks out of town and our needy housepets not being able to move in advance. I'm making a list of things to address in the future including some of your suggestions.
