I need something to put under my roost for the poop. Our Walmart doesn't have boot trays but my wife has an unlimited access to cardboard sheets. Would that work or are the chickens still apt to get spradle leg.

If they aren't going to be walking on them, just pooping on them, spradle leg shouldn't be a problem. Do they have anywhere else in the house where the roosts are? I wouldn't think they would wanna hang out under the roost if they have other space to go where shavings would be.
