chicken poop !

Hello ! We have 5 girls who generously provide us with many eggs and MUCH poo !! What does everybody do with theirs please ?

I put it on the compost pile, and when it breaks down it goes in the garden and flower beds.

! Pleased you joined our flock! I use my chicken's poop in a couple of ways - I till it into my garden, compost it, and top dress mulch established tomato plants, and have even traded it to people for veggies.

Really, we only keep chickens for the poop. It's gold!!

I managed to sell some of mine to other gardeners. It's lovely for compost! Just don't put too much in the heap and too little plant material as this could make your compost too acid. I worked my way around this problem by adding wood ash to neutralise the acid a bit since wood ash is alkaline. But remember: Wood ash, not charcoal fire ash.

In answer to the query about what to do with the " poo " that is left over..............

Really good for the compost pile, I have mine mixed with straw, and it all makes a wonderful additive as long as you

put a good portion of lime on it when added........needs to be "sweetened" up a bit..................zip
