My chickens slowed down on egg production quite a bit over the last week.. I started watching them closely, no waddling or lethargy do I didn't think they were egg bound.. they are still eating and chasing me down for meal worms. But today I noticed white spots on about half of their combs and wattles. I looked it up and I think it's fowl pox. There's apparently no cure? All I can find is that I should clean out their waterer and freshen up the coop. Isn't there anything I can give them to help them fight this off? I know it's viral, but does anyone have any tips or tricks? This is my first time owning chickens, and our first Illness.

Can you post any pictures? Most grown chickens survive fowl pox without treatment in about 3 weeks. It is a virus carried by mosquitoes in hot weather. Where are you located. Pox can be worse in tropical or southern states. Dry pox is on the skin. Wet pox is a type that can be inside the beak and throat, and is characterized by yellow plaques which are painful. There is a fowl pox vaccine available.

It's definitely the dry kind if that's what it is. I live in Texas and we have a ton of mosquitoes right now. We have neighbors with chickens in every direction so it's probably spreading like crazy. I'll try to post a picture in a bit. Right now my kids are all in the pool. ❤️
