Chicken Protection from a fox

One can speak for most or more better described as dogs in general if one has the experience with many dogs. Some dogs will not give a fox much mind but they are the minority. Most importantly it is OP that knows a very important peice of information, was the dog in question able to get at fox? Do you know the answer to question?

Dogs in general this day and time are being trained NOT to attack or go after the owners chickens and other animals, you can read this alot in this section of the forum as you well know. Yet many dogs do possess the natural instinct to do so anyway, you see that too in this section or the emergency section with resulting injuries and death to the owners chickens. OP only stated his dogs were outside and wants geese to deter the fox, doesnt want the fox killed...wants his cake and eat it too. What does that tell you?

Leaves me confused. My dogs seldom even come into contact with fox and they are very fast dogs. They simply let fox know that if it pays too much attention to chasing chickens or attempts to run with one in its mouth then dogs are very likely to catch fox. The business of predators like foxes and coyotes being killed by livestock guarding dogs is overblown big time. It does occur but not on a regular basis as with something like oppossums or racoons.
