I have a silkie hen that I've been keeping with my quail. She doesn't have any other chickens to mingle with yet, since my babies are only 2 weeks old. Today since it was so hot i brought all my animals inside. I gave Scully (the silkie) a bath because she just looked miserable. As i was drying her off, i noticed that a lot of her head feathers were still encased in that covering (i don't know what it's called) so i started to gently scratch her head and remove the sheathes from the feathers. She obviously enjoyed it,and about five minutes in she started making a purring sound. Now every time she sees me she makes that same sound. What does that mean? Is it just her way of sweet talking or ? I think it's adorable, just wondering what it meant.
