Chicken question for fun

Hello There,

We started out with Guinea hens when I was at a very young age. They were the first birds I have ever seen hatch in front of my own eyes. I have always loved God's creations and I am VERY fond of every species of bird. -(Guinea fowl started my love of ornithology)- but Guinea fowl? Just amazing to watch. I remember the one female (or so we thought) helping the others hatch.

As far as with chickens, two years after my experience with Guinea fowl I got a batch of nine chickens.
I was sitting in the passenger seat with a box of chirps upon my lap! I could see when one leaned against the box you see the fluff out the hole and the tiny beak tapping your finger.

We got them home and opened the box. They saw the world, their new home. Taking one-by-one out of the carton, they were now my babies.

I hatched one in my room and since the first batch I've had three flocks!

They are my favorite animal and I love learning about them. I always try to grasp what they think about or "talk" about.

I got clinched on to the process when I realized they were these little things, they grew inside of an egg and hatched! It is just amazing.

Lovely idea for a poll! This is very fun.

Sincerely,
-The Angry Hen

Well, I bought adult birds from my neighbour, but I had had them 6 months or so when I really fell in love. It was thanks to two BLRW roosters I rescued from a pond in the dead of winter. They were gorgeous, gentle birds that were grand fun to have in a flock. They eventually got sold due to too many birds but I loved having them.

Unfortunately, as a new chicken keeper that wasn't on BYC, I didn't quarantine and brought nasties into my flock. That's another story.

We got ours in May after talking about if for years then our city regulations changed and made it legal for us to happen fast forward another 2 years recived an email from my sons kindergarten class asking who wants baby chickens they were about 3 weeks old liked them from the start but it was when we were out side and they were playing around my husbands feet (he was working on my coop design) next to the dog that really sealed the deal

And then the way my kids just lit up when handeling them was icing on the cake

I've always loved chickens, even though I'd never had one or was even around them. Fast forward a few years (or decades) when I finally decided life was too short & I seriously needed to own some. Could not sleep the night before getting them. The man at the feed store asked me which ones I wanted. I couldn't speak. I finally managed to tell him that getting chickens was a dream come true & I couldn't believe it was actually happening. My girls were 12 weeks old & still considered me the mama chicken. Love at first sight.
