I saw poultry dust a TSC-- Do you need it?

Do I need it? No, I have some!

Check your chickies behinds with a flashlight when they're roosting at night, fluff the feathers and look for bugs and bug eggs. Check every individual, some are more vulnerable than others but if you find bugs treat them all.

Place D E in their nest boxes and where they dust themselves. That will take care of any bugs. You might want to put some in their feed also.

Do you mix the DE down or use it staight?

It's used straight. But be SURE that it's food grade and not the stuff they use for pool filters.

Thanks- I haven't seen any bugs yet but I though it might work like flea preventive on dogs?

I use DE where they dust, in their nests, their litter, run, and all over their coop. I don't care if any gets in their food as I use Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (DE). I have no pest problems with my birds.
