chicken questions??

Really? You can only have 4???? I'm in St. Paul, too, and I've never seen that before. I think you can have more--in fact I know you can, some of my neighbors have six... Maybe we can go in on an order together next spring! I am (hoping) to get chicks next spring too!

There is a friend who got a permit this summer for chickens in St. Paul. They told her she could only have 4, the number changed in July. She just missed the cutoff. If she would have gotten her permit in June, she could have had more and been grandfathered in. I'd love to have 6 or maybe more. Let me know if you know anything more. I will be getting my chicks from a neighborhood grade school, in the spring. The 2nd grade classrooms hatch eggs for a science experiement. I am really excited about getting chickens. This is going to be the longest winter ever! But they always are in Minnesota. Aren't they? I can look on the bright side, I'll have several months to learn everything I need to know about chickens. By the time this spring comes, I should be a seasoned chicken owner, even though I don't have any chickens yet. HEE-HEE!!!

P.S. What part of St. Paul are you in? If I have problems with the chicks from the grade school, I'd be glad to go in with you on chicks.

This is the official St. Paul website--no limit on # except "more than what can be kept on the property". I think I could keep up to 15 chickens on my lot, because it is a double lot. House on one, yard on another. I really only want 8 max, though.
