Hello,
I have silkie chickens. A pen of 5 silkies. When I hatched them, we thought they were all hens. However they started crowing. None were laying. Now we have some laying, sitting, but they're still crowing. I know for sure I have one hen.
Today I had an incident I dont know who started it, but three boys were in a fight. I got them out before the third boy had anything happen too him. He hasn't ever been mean to any of my other chickens. He isnt mean to me or my fiance. The other two though, they were both bleeding. Feathers ripped out, claws broken, gobblers bleeding. I'm not sure what to do. I want to keep the one who didnt get injured, I just dont want him to turn aggressive from this fight, and that is my fear. Can someone please help me with this? I have cried almost all day because these are my babies.
Thanks in advanced.

The injured roosters should heal up well, roosters are built to fight and they are very strong birds. If two birds of the same strength fight they usually will go on for a very long time. Sometimes they are so determined to win that the exhaust themselves and when they finally decide to run they have no energy to get away from the other rooster.

You will need to split the birds up, 2 roosters with 4-5 hens is still low. When you have more than one rooster you should have 4-5 hens per rooster. If you only have one rooster you can sometimes get away with just one hen.

One of the roos in pen has seizures. I am not even sure if that one is a rooster or a hen. It does not crow. It sits, but it has not laid eggs. It does not bother anyone and no one bothers it. In fact, they all help that one when it has an episode. The one I know is a hen, she doesn't get messed with. She stands up for herself. My black and orange one (which was the last one in the fight who did not get hurt) he has never hurt anyone and he was backed into a corner today and was not doing anything other than trying to get out of the corner. The one who I think started it, was the one with broken claws. They were so hard to get to stop bleeding. The other rooster had feathers pulled out of the top of his head, the side of his neck and his gobbler and comb were messed up really bad. I am not wanting to get rid of my black and orange one. I am looking for another home for my other two because I cannot risk the chicken with seizures getting hurt. I do not want to get rid of any of them, I just need opinions and feedback. I am looking for other chickens that I know for a fact are hens. I have one pen that has 6 hens and 1 roo. they are fine. This is the first time I have ever had a problem out of this pen. I am sorry to bother. I just do not know what to do. I have never had this problem.
