Hello!
I am not to sure what to do about my girls. They dont seem to like grit other than the red chick grit. Also at what temp should I start getting them ready for winter/ heat lamp. We turned it on the other night to make sure it was still working and the girls did not like it at all! They went back "downstairs" I guess thinking it was morning maybe??? Not sure...

Thanks!

Unless your climate is severe, they probably won't need added heat. I wouldn't even consider it until the temps get below freezing. Then it'a a judgement call. Many birds do great without it. Remember, they live in a down comforter. lol

My ladies don't like the plain chicken grit either so I mix in about 1/3 of the red chick grit with it & give it to them free choice. They like it better that way.
I can't answer as to your heat lamp, my chickens are housed in a coop that is insulated with good air circulation, so no heat is needed in our New Jersey winters. I am sure someone else will answer you on that one.
