my chickens won't come in out of the rain.I don't know if this is bad for them but my cousin said his chickens run inside before a rain so regularly that you could tell if it was going to rain by the chickens running into the coop.could there be somthing wrong with there coop?It is a converted dog house made of wood I have checked and it dont leak. This is bugging me because I don't want sick chics and they get downright soaked I thought birds liked to stay dry.By the way thier golden comets if that matters:/

Pretty new here but just some thoughts. I don't know where you are but is it too hot in the house? If so, could you put in windows or vents? Maybe you can just cover over an area with metal/plastic roof panels? It does sound like they are either afraid or unwilling to go in for some reason. Why don't you post a few pics and let us see what they have.

Don`t worry about the rain, it`s good for them. If you think about it, wild chickens never have/had a roof over them. They will be more healthy than chickens that are coddled......Pop

Honestly, they stay out in some really nasty weather and don't seme to mind it much.

Thanks didn't think it would be to much of a problem am building a new coop this month so that should make them more comfy.
