Chicken raising novice

Hello! New to raising chickens. Have had them (4) in coop getting bigger by the day. I have a little knee high fence that they run around in until they are bigger. Today, first time leaving them alone, peaking out window now & then. Last time I looked, I saw nothing. Headed out, closer I got I saw 1, sitting on ground. Then saw 2 more & noticed the fence was pulled away from coop. 2 chickens sitting close to coop & mostly outside of coop. They seemed frozen. I hear loud noise behind coop. Hawk flying into trees. I think it was a hawk. Chicken it had still alive. Lots of feathers on ground. Couple of open wounds on back of neck. Wound on wing too. Stood right up when I poked her & ran under brush. By this time I had other 3 in coop. Finally caught wounded one. Put in coop. They all acted scared for long time.

Hope you don't mind this long post for a basic question. After awhile I decided to take the injured one & made her a little pen in garage, food, water, light. Should I of put her alone? Should I get something for wounds? Bag balm? Peroxide, or leave be. I hope she lives, my youngest stepdaughter will be devastated. Send good healing thoughts to NH tonight people. Thank you.

if you put a top over them than they will be more safe
You think? Yes, going to build a good size pen, box frame with chicken wire & a roof. Wanted to know if I should have separated. I mean, I know some animals don't do good alone. But was afraid of others pecking at her. Sent from my SPH-L900 using JellyBombed Tapatalk 2

Thank you, I will keep informed.

Well, she survived through the night. Great sign. Gets up on her feet when I check on her. And I think I spotted her eating a few bites of food.

Thanks for the words of caution. We have many natural predators(hawks, skunks, foxes, owls, etc.) around our home so I intend to keep my chickens confined most of the time
