Chicken run fence ?

Would chicken wire be safe/strong enough to make my run out of and keep my chickens well protected ? I don't have to much more money for the project but if it wont keep my chickens safe then i could always safe up.

Chicken wire isn't very strong, and weasels can get through the holes. It was made more for keeping the chickens in, but not keeping dogs, wolves, weasls, etc. out.

What kind of fence does your run have ? I was also thinking either chain link or hard ware cloth.

Mine is chainlink. Pulled out about 500' out of the dumpster at work years ago complete with posts and top rail. I see free chainlink on CL all the time. You might have to remove it but free is free.

How tall should it be ?

Mine's 4' and I can stand up in the run because it's a peaked run but plenty of chickens have runs that are only 2'. 4' is what you will find the most of. If you find an old trampoline frame for free on CL, 4' is the right height to enclose it with.

I have an old trashed frame from one of those 10x20 party canopies that I cut down to 4' to fit the chainlink. The top is covered with field fence (large 4x4 openings). Keeps the hawks out but the magpies can slip right through the openings. don't have a better picture.
