chicken run pod?

I'd like to let the hens have access to richer parts of our 1/2 acre on occasion. Is there a practical way to transfer 6-8 hens from the main coop to a "pod" or tractor, which could then moved from place to place?... again, I expect to do this only occasionally and feel the advantages out ways any hassle. Any ideas appreciated.

Load them up in a dog crate and carry them out to the tractor.

I just turn mine out loose, they put themselves to bed in their coop. I have an auto door so I don't have to worry if I get home late. They run out on the fenced horse pasture. They LOVE it!!! I let them act like chickens.

I'd love to see the ideas too. We live on 1/2 acre and my girls wander if I let them out. I've tried that plastic poultry fencing but two of my girls say no way and hop over as soon as I let them out.
