Hi,

Looking for some help... I'm not sure if it was one or more chickens that laid something that looks like snot (very gross) it was not poop. And it was laid 3 times in the same day.

I hope my girls are not sick, not sure what to do.

What type of feed do you use? Do you put crushed oyster shell out for them as well? Chickens may sometimes lay shell-less eggs that can break, or just membrane and some egg material. These things are usually related to a problem with their shell gland. Some problems can be due to a past injury or a disease, such as infectious bronchitis that might have gone unnoticed. Since I have owned chickens, there is always one hen who lays a weird egg, and they tend to increase with age. Some hens with shell problems stop laying altogether. Here is some reading:

Thanks... They are free range, take advantage of the compost, give them pellets, crushed oyster mixed with crushed roasted egg shells. I'll check out that links that you provided. Much appreciated
