Just bought a chicken saddle for one of my hens because she's molting and they keep pecking her causing blood. She also is cold. Hasn't wanted to come out into the garden when I let them she rather roost and warm up. Do you think the saddle will help?

I’m thinking that the saddle will do more harm than good if she’s molting, it’ll be really irritating to already sensitive, uncomfortable skin. Have you tried Pik-No-More, Blu-Kote, or Pinless Peepers on the worst offenders?

I use saddles for molting hens if there's picking. No harm has been done, using saddles for anti - pecking.

None of my hens showed any signs of irritation from saddles during molting.

Hm, ok then. I’ve had opposite effects, so that’s interesting. The friction caused more discomfort with my girls.

Smooth cotton, kind of like jersey? T-shirt material.
I use this, like safety vest fabric.

I do but she gets mad at me because she keeps eating it when grooming herself. LOL. But it goes away quickly and doesn't last long with the pecking. I've read the reviews on the saddle I got off amazon it seems like it wouldn't irritate her. If it does I'll just bring her inside and maybe let her keep warm and heal.
