Any suggestions? can't keep the chicken saddles to stay on hens backs for long, they fall off ..........should i criss cross the elastic across the chest area of teh hen to help hold the saddle on her back .........they have red naked backs and i want to prevent more rooster damage. Suggestions appreciated.........i can't find answers on the web

How many roosters do you have? Usually 12-15 hens per rooster. Otherwise the hens will be worn out.

I have 1 rooster for 5 hens, but the saddles could work because I don't have 12 - 15 hens.

I'm thinking your saddle is too big. I bought a small one for a silkie mix and it fit her well, didn't slide off and really never moved at all. I had purchased a medium size one as well just in case the small was too small, but I realize it would fit one of my full size birds.

I have far more hens than my rooster can "service" but I also know that I have several boys in the eggs that we've hatched so that ratio will change and I may need more saddles at some point...

Anyway - I'm thinking you just need a smaller saddle/apron.

Diaper pins will tighten them up where they'll fit perfectly.
