Chicken Saddles

Do you take them off at night and put them on in the morning? I would wonder about them getting infested or something. Not sure about how to go about it.
Hey, I've got 18 hens with one roo, and he still has his favorites that just get shredded. His spurs are less than 1/2" long too, so it's just the fact that he picks on them exclusively. They were beautiful when we got them, and now their feathers are all shredded up. At least I know which hens are laying fertile eggs, though!

I recently purchased from MBLdesigns. I needed them in a hurry and got them in 3 days and she had to make them for me! Marion's items are well made and very pretty to look at. It took little if any getting used to for my EE to wear. Her feathers are coming back in nicely.

I bought some from a former member, at least I haven't seen her on here recently. They were so badly done I can't even use them! I was so disappointed. My poor girls are bare backed!

Ok, I don't mind showing my ignorance. Tell me how these things work. I gathered from the context that they are to discourage... errr.... romantic type behavior. And I don't even have roosters so, I shouldn't ever need them. But I've never heard of them and I'm intrigued.

I obviously don't now anything about the mating habits of chickens, but this is as good a time as any to ask. LOL

Anyone care to explain the mechanics of the saddle?

Thanks.
