Chicken safe plants in the run

I planted a bunch of tiny lilac bushes in my chicken area. The DEC sells them really cheap in the spring. I didn't really think they would make it- but, they have been out there for 4 years and look big and wonderful. The chickens do not even pick at them.... That being said my chickens are confined in about a 1/4 acre, maybe they would find them more interesting in tighter quarters?

OMG... now they are going after the big prickly pear cactus in their run. It's starting to look like a swiss cheese

They totally ignored it up until a few days ago and now they can't get enough of it. What a bunch of crazies!
