I have read that chickens do well with Chicken Scratch as a treat in the winter months. What is is and where would I find it? I don't see it on any of the poultry sites I've been checking.

Thx!

It is called scratch grain. Do you have a TSC, Rural King, Orsceln or any nearby farm store? They usually all carry it.

Scratch grain is for the most part a mixture of whole and cracked grains.
Most Scratch grain you get at the feed mill will have cracked corn, wheat, oats/ oat groat and millet.
Scratch grain is around 9% protein.

I like to use a all grain pigeon feed that has whole pop corn, wheat, oat groat, beans & peas, hemp seeds, rape seeds, rice seeds, safflower seed, sunflower seed and millet.
All grain pigeon feed is around 16% protein.

You should be able to get ether mixture at your feed mill..
