Chicken Show "prize" ends June 18 2020

Pics
@cluckmecoop7 is was a 4-H event for showing everyone's birds to the public and letting people learn about poultry, but no judging or awards were involved
She’s really very pretty. I don’t know much about Cochin type but her color is nice. Have you ever thought about showing? It’s a ton of fun

@FluffyBottomBantams Oh yes definitely. I've displayed at a few shows and plan to enter some towards the end of the year. Penny had won first in her class at one show a while back, but the picture I posted was when she was a pullet and she is a hen now, so the coloration is a little more developed. Though it is not recognized by the APA, her color seems to be a blue-birchen

There is a color identical to that in d’Uccles and other chickens called blue(my avatar is a blue rooster) , and it is recognized in the ABA. Do you show with 4h or at ABA/APA sanctioned shows ?
I can’t wait till this is all done with and we can go to shows and fairs again!! I’m fine with wearing a mask or whatever is required I’m just going nuts missing all these shows!!! :hit:he

@FluffyBottomBantams I've shown in both before, and at the end of this year if everything goes ok, I'll be in a APA sanctioned 4-H show with some silver penciled cochins I've been working on, maybe some splash, and possible my ayam cemani trio. Too bad splash cochins are the only recognized variety of birds that I want to show on that list

@FluffyBottomBantams They're a new line I'm working on this year so they aren't spectacular at this point, but it's a start. I'm also working on mottled and splash for bantam cochins as well. The first picture attached is what the silver penciled guys look like as chicks, and that chick (Patrijs) hatched in mid April. The second and third pictures are Patrijs now and she's ready to go outside, and her colors and pattern are still developing but will probably take a few months to solidify yet. The last picture is what any of my silver penciled guys should look like when they're all nice and mature and feathered in!
