LOL!!!! I have a split level house, 15 wooden deck stairs to get to my back sliding door. EVERY day my chickens take a daily trek up to my back door and my special-needs step-daughter....bless her heart lets them in every time cause she thinks it's great! They love the carpet and standing over the air conditioning vent and hiding under the table. It is SOOOOO funny but my husband HATES it! But if we don't let them in now, they stand at the door and peck at it and bawk bawk bawk till we pay them some attention! LOL! Chickens are SO funny!
Our Rhodie, Scarlett, figured out the doggie door her first month here. Thankfully, Gracie, our Border Collie shooshes her back outside before things become too adventurous.
That doggie door, btw, is why we had to re-home the pig. I draw the line at watching tv with a potbelly pig while he "dated" the ottoman.
I come home from work around the same time every night, and the first thing I do is let the girls out of the coop/run to free range. Our lab/rottweiler mix lays right in the middle of the yard supervising. I go inside, change clothes and then come back out to do chores. The girls follow me around (they know I have food) and if I go back inside, they are at the back door pecking. One of them actually has figured out how to get on the ledge which is the same level as the door handle and she pecks that! Smart little goober is gonna spring that back door open one of these days and I'll bet MY kitchen will be full of feathers & poo. Sigh.
Lol! Well labs do like to please everyone!! I am frequently chasing chickens out of the house as mad as poo on the rug makes me- I still have to control my laughter seeing a bunch of chickens lounging around the livingroom. And they always give me a look like "what's your problem lady??"
