Chicken slowly is falling

She can barely stand now and her bum is poopy and her tail is down. :-(
Can you feel of abdomen - is it hard, soft squishy, swollen, bloated, fluid filled or normal? (cup your hand under the vent and between her legs - to feel the abdomen, if you need to, compare her to another hen approx. the same size)

If you haven't done so, gently feel inside the vent with a lubricated, gloved finger and see if she has an egg stuck - you don't need to go any further than about 2".

I'm sorry she is not doing well, with chickens things can go wrong quickly. You are doing what you can for her.

@Wyorp Rock I felt her abdomen and it's hard but a bit squishy.

Honestly I think she's past saving... her legs are paralyzed and she smells so bad.
Oh I'm so sorry!

If she has a bad odor then she has infection somewhere. If you feel that she is in pain or suffering, it's a kindness to let them go. I know it's a hard decision to make, but I'm sure you will make the right call.

If you want to give her more time, you need to find out where the smell is coming from - a wound that is infected/maggot infested, a vent that is prolapsed/infected and something like canker inside the beak are some of the common things that smell bad. You can look for those and let us know.

Just know, if you decide to let her go, I support you in whatever you decide - I have found once that decision crosses my mind, it usually is the right thing to do (for me). It's sad, but I don't want any of my sweet birds to suffer.

I’m so sorry! Sorry I missed the tag yesterday; I had a wedding to attend and then somehow just missed it today. Have you determined where the smell is coming from? Wound? Crop? Vent?

What do you mean her legs are paralyzed? What position are they in? Does she tip over if you try to stand her up?
No no that’s fine! It’s coming from her bum.

Her toes are all pointing down and when I set her down her legs just go behind her. I can tell she’s trying to move them but it’s obvious she can’t.
