Chicken Smoothies

That’s so cute. They know what’s up, I love how they start attaching certain noises and things with treats or things that interest them. Smart little birds! Hearing about your little moments with your girls makes me so excited to get my new girls! They’re arriving around June 25th! Hope you keep enjoying your chicks!
Aww...thanks! You’re going to have a great time too!! They’re very food driven, so I’ve managed to buy much trust and love with that currency. If you’ll be putting them in at night & open coop during the day, I was reading that it’s easy to get them to go in the coop at night with a treat routine. Like a dog or cat...carry their treat container and shake it or whatever & even the stubborn ones should coop up for their treat...I’ll be finding out within the next few weeks! Keep me updated on how things are going after you get yours?

They only get treats at night after they’ve been free eating all day and finished pecking at their night time feeder replenishment. It’s not every single night and get probably one quartered strawberry and 5-7 blueberries for all 12 to play Keep-Away with. Most nights I crush up dried mealworms, feed some by hand and let them “forage” for the rest in their play sand & DE dust bath spa. They eat plenty of play sand to get their grit. Girl, I must’ve read for DAYS about treats, grit, ratio of food to treats, etc, etc. I was dying to treat them, but was sure I’d do it wrong and sicken them. I still don’t know a lot, but I’ve definitely done research, haha!

Yes! I would love to share how it goes with my girls! Hoping they all come safe. I see you have a few barred rocks I think? They are very pretty birds and you gotta love the brown eggs! They all seem healthy and lively so far! Reflecting the time and work you put into them, good job!

Yes, I have 7 barred rock hens and 5 red sex link hens. Everyone said I should get a couple “just in case” chicks since it’s Uber common to lose 1 or a few when they were so young...well, thankfully that never happened, but now I’ve got a dozen hens that will be laying. Maybe I’ll sell eggs after I stock up my family, friends & neighbors each week, lol! I’m really enjoying watching them grow and develop their individual personalities!

Yes watching them grow and develop individual personalities is the best! A dozen laying hens?! You’re gonna have a lot of eggs😂 But who said that was a bad thing! Lucky neighbors getting those fresh eggs, lol! Selling them might not be a bad idea. Getting some money to get back what you spend on their feed. Pretty soon you’re gonna have some fresh eggs! Better get prepared once they start laying regularly. It’ll almost be never ending with a dozen hens!

I got carried away, as usual. But my amputation combined with these stay at home orders have got me super bored which then makes me super impulsive! Haha!

Boredom gets the best of us sometimes. But those chicks are gonna make these times a lot more interesting! They give you something to tend to everyday and are very entertaining! Those eggs are well worth the work🙌🏼

A dozen eggs a day is a lot, but there’s something rewarding about either selling extras or giving them to friends, family, and neighbors.

I find neighbors don’t ever complain about the occasional “egg song” drifting over to their ears when you’re handing them a dozen fresh eggs.

Of course, I started with 6 layers about 7 years ago...and by the end of this year should have about 90 (and two goats) by the end of this year, so maybe I’m a bad role model!:D

Nah, I mean I already bought a dozen as a first time owner. I’m sure I’d never do something like that again.......
Pahahaha!!!
