Question to all my fellow backyardagins-
I do not want to purchase birds from murray Murray and would rather get chickens from a reputable source who has chicken quality and apa standards in mind.
Would sand hill preservation fit my criteria in your experience?

Please let me know what your dealings have been like with them and if I would be buying quality Black Araucana's and Blue Laced wyandottes from them.
I want apa standard for my little backyard farm.

They admit that their Ameraucana are 'mixed colors' which means they don't meet standard and the hens lay colors other than blue. They acknowledge that none of their Ameraucana lay blue eggs, but rather blue/green or green. If you want APA standard, choose a breeder that actively shows their birds and stay away from hatcheries completely.

They honestly confused me by saying that they were apa standard and that all blue eggs still have a hint of green even pure araucana's like theirs. They gave a "tutorial" on the differences and that theirs are registered and acknowledged as araucana's so I was buying what they told me on their site...

Aww bugger...their fine print and a second read through has me convinced you are totally amd completely correct. Thanks.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a wonderful Black Araucana LG who is selling fertile eggs and or chicks? Looking for at least two sources to buy from.
Waiting on a response from smooth mule.

Pure Ameraucana lay blue eggs. Some breeders' project colors have problems with getting good quality blue eggs. APA standards call for specific colors for Ameraucana. If they are breeding to standard, they will maintain separate lines for each color and sell the chicks accordingly.

So just an update for everyone, after 14 phone calls and emails out to araucana breeders I still haven't found any. Wish me luck and any names you might have of those still raising them would he greatly appreciated. Im looking for Black LF araucana's and I can hatch eggs or purchase chicks. Rumpled 100% and a large portion tufted.view want untufted too so I can breed and not have a majority of chicks die in shell... im waiting as long as necessary for the roght person. Unfortunately most people who have sold these in the past have moved on to a different breed or color.
