chicken staying in nesting box.

Once she sits out of broodiness, she stops laying eggs. If you don't want her sitting yet, take her out of the nest. If she keeps going back in, there are posts on here that detail ways to stop it. One thing I just did to stop a broody hen that kept returning was I took out all of the old straw and poop and replaced it with fresh straw. For some reason, she stopped sitting. She still walks around like she's a little peeved, though, but it's just too hot here to have baby chicks.

My chicken Negrita has been staying in her nesting box, and she seems really thirsty when I make her get out. She puffs out a lot and now her clucking has changed it sounds less clucky, more like a popping-clucking, if that makes sense. She has been doing this for maybe 2-3 days. I think she has been laying eggs still (I only have 1 other chicken), and I have been taking away her eggs. I am concerned. I can't see anything physically wrong with her.

Hi. My hen is doing the same thing - puffing out, making an odd noise. And, she stays in the nesting box after I remove her egg. She's just over 1 year old. Was there any resolution to this for your hen?
