Chicken straining to excrete waste

I've recently noticed my Barred Rock Hen straining to poop. She has been eating and drinking as normal and hasn't shown any signs of weakness. I'm not sure if this is because of an underlying disease in her digestive system but can't seem to find anything on this matter. Does anyone have any experience with this?

We give her chicken feed and scraps but she likes to dig around for insects when she's outside. She's 5 years old and she isn't a consistent layer anymore

It could be a reproductive issue, can you feel under her vent and belly for swelling or hard areas?
