What did you do in the garden today?

I had to buy onion sets. My onions don't really do too good so I need to find a better soil mix to put them in.

Today I went looking for fish pepper seeds. No luck; the local places are just starting to get their seeds in, but none of them had that variety. I still have a few more stores to check but if that doesn’t work out I might need to order them.

Our high today was 12. Sigh. But the wind was howling so we felt like -7 most of the day, and damp -7. Aches to the bone.

Every year I do a garden sketch, so I have a plan on where i want to plant everything. Got that done. My garden is small compared to most, but she provides so much food. I do succession planting which also helps!

my late autumn planted peas did not survive frost. ducks and geese enjoyed them. I should plant them again but not sure when. people here don't plant peas so no one can tell me. we are having some rain.

I found a small chicken egg today in a place where I see my Red Star hens dust bathing. I will lock them up, so they learn how to lay in the nest boxes.

I also need to cull 3 of 4 cockerels from my meat bird line, I will select a white feathered one and try to bring back my Breese/Cornish X mixed line.

I think these wild small papayas are the "Solo" variety. The flesh looks kind of yellow and it's sweeter than my bigger red flesh papaya. Their small pocket makes it ideal for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

My Red Star hens that I mentioned are pullets, this is the first egg I found. I take that back, I just found another small egg in their nest box, so they are just starting up.

never heard of them. to be honest my favourite part of cukes are juicy seeds, lol.
