Hi Everyone,
I have visited BYC many times in the last 2 years since i got my first chick and finally decided that it was time to join. I have really appreciated all the help with new chx owner follies. thank you!

I have 2 kids who love the 1/2 acre that we live on in a quiet neighborhood full of dog lovers. We started out raising chicks for friends who have hens & didn't want to deal with the constant care of babies. It worked well for the first year. So we tried it again and, of course, we got attached. We now have a tiny flock of bantams that live in a coop on the front porch & daily have the run of the front flower beds.

Having chickens has really raised our awareness of food, landscaping, etc., because we can see direct consequences in our chickens from poor quality water, from pesticides on plants, etc. We now have totally edible plants in our front beds with strawberries & blueberries & lillies.

Now Sunday afternoons always include time with the chickens. Gathering eggs, hanging out with the birds, and caring for them has been a very happy thing for us.
