chicken sunglasses

I barely remembered this when I was growing up,but I had saw chickens with sunglasses on.At the time I didn't know if it was real or someones imagination.I found out that it was real.Sometime in the 40's I think,

it was believed that if you put sunglasses on chickens that if one had a sore,this would stop them from pecking on each others wounds and the possibility of killing a wounded chicken.They were rose colored and fit on the bridge of their beak at the eyes.It showed them on the TV show Storage Wars.I thought this would be good info.

I just checked the internet and I found all kinds of web sites verifying

this to be true.The one I checked out shows a picture of a pr.

Very interesting. The UK made them illegal in 1982, I wonder when they fell out of favor here?
