My hand hubby made a few for me. I even took chicks to a swap in Upstate NY in them and they did GREAT!

Are they going to still need a light at the swap?
if your chicks need a light at home---they need a light at the swap and you need to tell the people who buy them what temp you have them at. if you have multiple brooder lights, don't forget to bring a power strip to go with your extension cord. tractor supply only has so many outlets in the warehouse.

One point of clarity. It says all birds over 5 months old must have a leg band. Birds hatched from my NPiP flock that are over 5 months old (after my testing date) will not have leg bands. You are not required to retest birds hatched from your flock more frequently than once a year......?
Oh, I wasn't asking a general question! Sorry! Backwoods was asking what type of setup for chicks and I asked him if they needed lights because I didn't know if he meant a caged setup or a brooder setup! I should have been clearer! Sorry!
